??From adding lemon juice to a sauce or soup to brighten it up to adding lemon slices to chicken or fish, it seems to be one of those perfect foods.?? On our San Francisco Food Tours of Chinatown or North Beach\Little Italy, it seems like a lot of places agree with us.?? From salads to soups, to main dishes, lemons seem to all of the place.?? At the same time, it seems like they exemplify the idea of eating locally and seasonally.?? Granted, we are in an area where lemons are grown year-round, so we are a little spoiled here.?? When they are fresh, ??lemon juice is the perfect way to add some great flavor to food.?? When it is not, it??s hard to get much lemon juice out of a lemon.
??
On our San Francisco Food Tours, we have a great time enjoying foods that have that distinctive flavor that comes from bringing out the actual flavor of the food, rather than covering it up. Heavy sauces are really not a California way of cooking or eating.???? We would rather find what it is in season and then bring out the natural flavor of that food, instead of trying to take something that is out of season and then covering it up with some heavy sauce.?? As that point, about the only thing that anyone can taste is that sauce.?? So, we will stick with fresh foods and having a great time enjoying them.
