There is something about freshly made gnocchi that is uniquely satisfying.

When they are handmade from fresh potatoes that have a clean flavor and texture that the premade gnocchi can??t compare to.?? Maybe it??s the time and care that it takes to make them or maybe it??s something about the texture that you only know if you??re making them by hand.?? As I was enjoying them last night, accompanied by fresh cream sauce and chanterelle mushrooms, it made for the perfect dinner.

On our San Francisco Food Tour of North Beach\Little Italy and Chinatown, we find it??s that homemade touch that makes all of the difference.  Whether it??s gnocchi or dumplings, one can always taste and feel difference.  Maybe it those things that one can only tell by how it feels.

On our San Francisco Food Tours, it??s always great to learn from our stops how they learned about that touch and feel. Some people learned it from a class, some people learned from practice, most of them learned from their family members as it was passed from generation to generation.  The result is that touch and feel of the food that is richly satisfying.  And while current changes and additions to the food are great, it?? that base of the food that comes through.  It??s the base of the food, whether it is gnocchi, dumping or something else that comes through and makes for that richly satisfying experience.
