Sitting back with some fresh melon and a cappuccino, reminds us about what summers in San Francisco are all about. Taking in the perfect weather, not too hot and not too cold and enjoying the fresh foods of the season. On either our San Francisco Food Tour of Chinatown or North Beach\Little Italy, we get the same experience, as well. It also reminds about why we like living here. Due to the unique climate that we have here, the hotter the inside of the state of California gets, the colder we get. It just pulls the fog or marine layer right off the ocean. What that means is that right along the coast is perfect for growing artichokes, the majority of the artichokes in the US are grown in this area. Yet, if one goes 30 miles away, it can easily get 20-30 degrees hotter. What that means is that everything that we eat here has been grown within about an hour of San Francisco. And our food is incredibly seasonal. If something is out of season, we just don??t?? eat it. On our San Francisco Food Tours, we love how are neighborhoods reflect that. As the seasons change, the foods change. The result is that every time that we explore our neighborhoods, we find something new and fresh for the season. Some new dish that they are making because they found the ingredients just came into the market. It makes for delicious melons that are incredibly sweet. Accompanied by the prefect cappuccino, it makes for a great way to start the day.
