September is almost over and we??re getting ready to start October.

Whether it is our San Francisco Food Tour of North Beach\Little Italy or Chinatown, October is the month of festivals all throughout San Francisco. For most of us, Halloween is the time that we get ready for lots of parties and fun. The good news, especially on our San Francisco Food Tours, it??s also the time that pumpkins come front and center. For many people, pumpkins mean pumpkin pie. For me, it does mean pumpkin pie, however it also means pumpkin soup and roasted pumpkin. Pumpkin soup is just perfect at dinner, with a little nutmeg, and cinnamon, it??s even better. And once you roast a pumpkin, it is perfect for risotto. The only different, is that I like goat cheese with pumpkin in risotto. I also really like using pumpkin for ravioli. Portobello mushrooms are the perfect mushroom for pumpkin in risotto, along with some roasted walnuts. I like to use a fresh pesto sauce with them. The good news is that the stops on our tours think the same way. Whether it is North Beach\Little Italy or Chinatown, everyone likes to find a new way to use pumpkin. Pumpkin pasta, pumpkin tarts, everyone has great way finding a new way to enjoy pumpkin. And we have not begun to get to the fun that we??ll have on Halloween.
