On our San Francisco Food Tours, when is something is fresh, it doesn??t need lots of salty of sauces.
On our San Francisco Food Tour of North Beach\Little Italy and Chinatown, guests often ask me whether the food we eat is based on how healthy it is. I??d like to say that way always the reason, however the reality is that more often than not, it??s because it tastes good. The reality is that fresh food just tastes good. When something is not fresh, it starts to be either bland or even bad. Just like fresh fruit tastes better then old fruit, fresh vegetables taste better than old vegetables. Even things like fresh pasta tastes better than pasta out of box.
On our San Francisco Food Tours, when is something is fresh, it doesn??t need lots of salty of sauces. It??s probably the reason that we don??t tend to have very heavy sauces or really salty food. Salty foods or heavy sauces are frequently used as a way to cover up food that is not fresh. Fortunately, salty food and heavy sauces are not usually healthy, so food that tastes fresh is healthy at the same time. So, in the final analysis, we??re probably eating healthy food just because they taste better.
With all of the images of healthy Californians, it probably really does come to that when our food is fresh, it tastes better. Whether that??s good or bad, it probably closer to who we are and why we eat the foods that we do.
