On our San Francisco Food Tours, many of our stops have the same idea about soups and stews.

On our San Francisco Food Tour of North Beach\Little Italy and Chinatown, it??s been an easy weekend.  Between the storms in the other parts of the country to people being out shopping, there??s been a lot of things impacting us.  For me, that??s a great reason to make soup or stew.  Soup and stew are some of those comfort foods that not only taste good, but warms your insides as well, in more ways than one. The great thing is that you can make soup or stew out of just about anything.  For example, something like carrots makes great carrot soup.  Add a little ginger and it??s perfect.

On our San Francisco Food Tours, many of our stops have the same idea about soups and stews.   The great thing about stews is that you don??t need meat.  Tofu make a great substitute for meat, as long as it??s fresh.  Fortunately, a place in the neighborhood makes their own.  However, many of them are like me, as like I like to do at home, is to give my stews time to cook for a long time. It??s gives everything a chance for everything to meld together.   Then I like to reduce the sauce rather than thickening the sauce with something cornstarch.  Reducing the sauce just gives it a much more intense flavor.  It takes more time, however it??s worth it. The good news that we??ll be trying different combinations of soups and stews at home.  No matter what we come up with.  It will be great comforting feeling as we enjoy them.
