On our San Francisco Food Tours, it??s fun to experiment and try new foods

Spring brings new flavors into the markets and with that our imagination gets a kick start on our San Francisco Food Tour of North Beach\Little Italy and Chinatown. When I walked into the market and saw peas and butternut squash, it seemed like a natural combination. When I saw some fresh sage leaves and that the new walnut crop was in the market, I knew that I wanted to make something out of them. I was not exactly sure what I was going to end up with, however I have a great time experimenting. Fortunately, I have an understanding spouse, who understands that sometimes it turns out really good and somethings not so good. In this case, I saut?ed onions and walnuts, then added the peas and butternut squash. I added some cinnamon, fresh nutmeg and allspice, then finished it off with fresh sage. The good news is that is actually turned out pretty good. On our San Francisco Food Tours, it??s fun to experiment and try new foods as they come into the market and then into the neighborhoods. The other goods news is that cooks or chefs at our stops are probably much better cooks than me, so it always turns out delicious. When that happens, it inspires me to go home into my kitchen and try out some new idea. For my spouse that can either be really tasty or a time when they try to be diplomatic. Either way, I have a great time trying something new
