It's always interesting on our San Francisco Food Tour of North Beach\Little Italy and Chinatown about the food that we're used to.

In Chinatown, we're used to things like dumplings and rice noodles. In North Beach\Little Italy, we're used to things pasta in a parmesan wheel. The curious thing is that we're used to both traditional foods as well as food that we started to see from recent immigrants. On our San Francisco Food Tours, it's fun to see how that combination shows up in our neighborhoods. For example, in Chinatown, we 'll have soups that have combination of dumplings and rice noodles. The hand pulled rice noodles really make for a great soup. Or in North Beach, we'll see a combination of pasta made in a parmesan wheel. While it's something that has been for a while in Italy, it's something that we only saw recently here. At the same time, just like other areas, we had some foods that may people have never heard of. While some people may be used to things like pluots, many people have never heard of them. They are a cross between an apricot and a plum. I don't know how many types there are, however, they are really delicious. The results of all of this are combinations of foods that can only be found here. Just like most places, which have combinations of foods that are only found in that area. The results are always interesting and delicious.
