As spring weather arrives, we look around and see all of the spring flowers and foods
Whether it is our San Francisco Food Tour of Chinatown or North Beach\Little Italy, it is some fun to enjoy all of the new foods. Every stop is getting excited about the new foods, and we??re getting excited about using them at home. While we love eating out a new restaurant, there is something about eating at home with friends and family that always makes it special. There is also something meeting new people on our San Francisco Food Tours that makes is seem like we are meeting new members of our family.
This weekend, squash blossoms are showing up in the markets. We love to stuff them with ricotta cheese, goat cheese, chives, some white vanilla (it??s clear and made from the flower of the vanilla plant, so it adds a wonderful aftertaste, almost like lavender), coat them in eggs and breadcrumbs, and then fry them in olive oil. We love to serve them with a fresh pesto sauce. We always make own pesto sauce, just throw some fresh basil, pine nuts, garlic and olive oil in a blender. They are so good, they can be the main dish at dinner. And nothing says spring like squash blossoms. Some come join us as we celebrate all of the spring foods in San Francisco.
